What to Do If You're Injured
When you have been hurt in an accident, it can be difficult to determine what steps need to be taken to ensure that your rights and interests are protected. Of course, medical treatment should be sought immediately. Beyond that, it is important to speak with an attorney and to take proactive steps to help you recover the full and fair compensation to which you are entitled.

Do's and Don'ts Following an Accident
DO speak with an experienced personal injury lawyer as soon as possible BEFORE you talk to an insurance company.
DO NOT give a recorded statement to an insurance company until you consult a lawyer.
DO NOT listen when insurance companies tell you that you need to immediately give a statement or fill out their report form.
DO take a lot of photographs of EVERYTHING — your injuries (cuts, bruises, casts, scars, stitches etc.), your car, the scene of the accident. Keep taking photos periodically as your physical condition changes.
DO keep a detailed diary documenting how you feel day-to-day (pain, lack of sleep, etc,) and any activities that you were forced to miss.
DO aggressively pursue a full diagnosis of your injuries.
DO keep calling your doctor to report continued pain or other problems, even if there may not be a treatment that will help; your injuries must be documented in your medical record before they are taken seriously by an insurance company.
DO pursue alternative treatment (chiropractic, acupuncture, massage therapy, etc.) if you are not getting better (even if these services are not covered by your health insurance they may be covered by your auto insurance) — an attorney can help you.
